Air Conditioning Application
Guide
This guide aims to help you understand
which Air Conditioning unit is most suitable for each
area of your business.
Workshop/Factory
Areas of production, assembly
or packing.
The following coolers are
suitable for a Workshop or Factory environment.
Spot Coolers
Spot
Coolers are industrial units that provide local respite
for operators or machinery. Supplying cool air from
directional nozzles, these units move large air volumes,
with temperatures of 10ºC achievable, and are suitable
for cooling equipment or personnel in any production
area environment, as well as being available for temporary
and emergency installation. Capacities range from 4kW
up to 30kW. Spot cooler units above 7kW will generally
require a 3 ph supply.
Evaporative Coolers
Evaporative
Coolers move large volumes of air and can produce effective
cooling when operating in a large area that is well
ventilated such as a workshop, warehouse or marquee.
Not suitable for computer or server rooms, evaporative
coolers work by evaporating water so that, in addition
to cooling the air, these air conditioners also humidify
it. Evaporative cooler units may be installed wherever
an outside source of fresh air is available and can
be used as fan-only units to replenish the working environment
with fresh air when there is no requirement to cool
or humidify.
Open Plan Offices
Housing administrative, IT
or sales staff with computers, printers and fax machines.
The following coolers are
suitable for an open plan office environment.
Split Type Units
Split
type units can be installed to operate through an open
window or vent to the outside through a 50mm hole in
a suitable wall. Simple and straightforward air conditioning,
requiring minimal operator input, typical split type
cooling capacities range from 3 to 5.5kW, with hose
lengths of 2-5m. Units operate from a three pin 13amp
240v supply with condensate removed automatically via
a pump to the outdoor unit.
Monobloc Type Units
Monobloc
type units are ideal where the unit can be located close
to an opening window or vent. Simple to install and
operate, with minimal operator input required, typical
monobloc air conditioners provide cooling capacities
from 1.5 to 3kW. Monobloc units operate from a standard
three pin 13 amp 240v supply and condensate is either
removed automatically through the discharge hose, or
manually via a collection tank.
Server Rooms/Computer Rooms
Containing expensive and often
"mission-critical" computer equipment including
servers, switches, hubs and UPS.
The following coolers are
suitable for a server room environment.
Heavy Duty Monobloc
IT
systems rely on cooling and air conditioning for consistent
performance. Heavy duty monobloc or spot coolers move
large volumes of air that can be directed at server
racks or other critical machinery. Warm air is removed
from the room via flexible hose.
Industrial Fans
It
doesn’t take a great surge of heat to damage server
or computer network equipment - a couple of degrees
too high and you could be facing considerable downtime.
Industrial fans are a reliable way of moving large volumes
of air and directing it precisely at server racks or
other critical machinery to prevent overheating dangers.
Offices/Boardrooms
Housing small numbers of administrative,
IT or sales staff with computers, printers and fax machines.
The following coolers are
suitable for an office/boardroom environment.
Split Type Units
Simple
and straightforward air conditioning, eminently suitable
for boardrooms or small to medium size offices, split
type units readily operate through an open window or
small vent. Due to their modest hose diameter requirements,
split type cooling units can be installed with minimal
disruption and achieve external venting through a small
(50mm) hole in a suitable wall. Condensate removal to
the outdoors is achieved automatically. Cooling capacities
range from 3 to 5.5kW.
Monobloc Type Units
Monobloc
type units are ideal where the unit can be located close
to an opening window or vent. Simple to install and
operate, with minimal operator input required, typical
monobloc air conditioners provide cooling capacities
from 1.5 to 3kW. Condensate is either removed automatically
through a discharge hose, or manually via a collection
tank.
